Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

 

Read below to hear about upcoming events, important city and state information, and resources for Stamford residents.

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • New Infrastructure Investments and Vision Zero Initiatives: Yesterday, I was proud to announce critical investments in our city’s infrastructure to meet our Vision Zero goals to make our roads and walkways safer for all residents and visitors. These investments include:
    • $2.7 million for the Latham Park Area Infrastructure Project;
    • $2.7 million for citywide traffic signals and roadway design and construction;
    • $1 million in American Rescue Plan funds for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure,
    • A safety study for Washington Boulevard, Vision Zero Crash Dashboard, and 19 Pedestrian Safety Projects.

  • $1 Million in Federal Funding for Bioswales: One week ago, I joined Congressman Jim Himes to announce the $1 million in federal funding Stamford received to build 20 new bioswales across the city which will reduce flooding and stormwater runoff and improve water quality and neighborhood aesthetics.   • Veterans Resource Center Opening: Last week, I was proud to open the Stamford Veterans Resource Center. This center will allow veterans to have better access to government resources and programs and give them the opportunity to interact with fellow veterans and community partners in Stamford. Read more here.
  • $5.25 Million in Federal Funding for City Projects: In case you missed it, Stamford will receive $5 million in federal funding to build a new library branch on the East Side, street light improvements, and a new regional police academy at the Stamford Police Department.

 

CITY NEWS

  • Winter Restaurant Week is back until March 5th. Stop by one of our great eateries! For more information, click here.
  • CTDOT continues construction at Stamford Station.
    • The center island platform between Tracks #3 and #5 is closed. This platform will remain closed through Thursday, May 11, 2023.
    • Passengers can find the updated train schedule here.
  • The state of Connecticut’s mandatory revaluation process has been completed. More information about the revaluation process can be found here.
  • The Special Election for the 148th House District will be held this Tuesday, February 28th, 2023. For more information click.
  • All vendors working with the City, please see the notice posted here.
  • The Stamford Department of Health Flu vaccine clinic is open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm every Wednesday until April 30th, 2023. The clinic is located at 137 Henry Street, no appointment needed.

COVID-19

  • Covid Testing Sites
    • For information on the St. Mary’s Church (566 Elm St): Click here
  • Vaccination Sites: 1st and 2nd doses are available to all, booster shots for ages 5+ (Pfizer) and 18+ (Moderna/J&J))
  • On Saturday February 25th, 2023:

  • Westover School: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • 137 Henry Street: 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Child Guidance Center (401 Shippan): 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

  • On Sunday February 26th, 2023:
  • Americares (401 Shippan Ave): 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • From 2/27 to 2/28, free vaccines are available without an appointment for all ages: 

     

    • 137 Henry Street Clinic: Monday - 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
    • 137 Henry Street Clinic: Tuesday – (Appointment Preferred 9:00 am to 12:00 pm), Call (203)-977-5385
    • Americares (401 Shippan): Tuesday – 8:00 am -12:00 pm

    • If you are unable to leave your home or are uncomfortable traveling to a vaccine site, please call the Stamford Department of Health at 203-977-4378 or 203-977-4369 
    • Please visit the State of Connecticut's Vaccine Portal for information on how to request a new copy of your card.
