The project has been challenged in getting the required submittals approved in a timely manner which has impacted the project’s timeline to construct the replacement bridge within the original 244 calendar days to complete the project by November 30, 2023. The calendar period for the entire project is furnished by the State Department of Transportation prior to bid.  One of the submittals includes the support of the telecommunication conduits that need to remain in service throughout the construction of the project.  Managing the support and the relocation of these cables is a shared responsibility between the contractor and Frontier.      

The project submittals are required to be furnished by the contractor which allow the contractor to move forward with the various phases of construction once approved by the project’s construction engineering & inspection firm (CEI). There have been many rounds of reviews prior to obtaining the approval of these important contract documents.

The contractor has submitted a request for time extension which is under review. To make up for lost time the contractor intends to work during the winter which is normally a shutdown period. The extension of time request that is under review as submitted by the contractor for substantial completion is for May 31, 2024.
