Recycling is the Law in Connecticut and in Stamford

How to Comply with Stamford’s Mandatory Recycling Law

Landlords

Property owners and managers are required to provide tenants with recycling services and an appropriate number of color-coated recycling toters (at least 1 container for every garbage bin is a good idea) or a dumpster.

Apartment / multi-family owners could be fined if they fail to provide tenants with properly labeled recycle and garbage toters and information on how to use them.

Tenants / Renters

Renters can call property managers to request recycle toters or call Stamford’s Recycling Supervisor at 203-977-4117.

Call your Garbage Hauler if you live in an apartment complex with more than 6 units.

City Support

If you live in an apartment complex with less than 6 units, you can order a Stamford Recycling toter to be delivered to you.

Stamford Recycling & Sanitation offers:

  • Training
  • Posters and signage (also available in Spanish)
  • Stickers for totes (also available in Spanish)

If interested, please contact Dan Colleluori at 203-977-4117.

If you live in an apartment complex with more than 6 units, please call your hauler to request Recycling or Garbage services.
