Mayor Swears-In New Police Officer

Post Date:05/10/2021

Mayor David Martin administered the oath of office to a new Police recruit at the Stamford Government Center today.  Joining the Mayor for the ceremony was Director of Public Safety Ted Jankowski and Police Chief Tim Shaw. Officer Rajvi Blake-Jarvis is a transfer from the Bridgeport Police department and completed the State’s basic training program at the police academy. Officer Blake-Jarvis will now undergo field training within the department.

“Stamford continues to be the safest city in New England thanks to the work of the City’s police force. By becoming a member of the Police Department, Officer Blake-Jarvis is taking on a very important role to protect Stamford residents,” said Mayor Martin. “Being sworn in today builds on a strong tradition of working together with the community to keep everyone safe as she risks everything to protect the families that live here.”

Director of Public Safety Ted Jankowski stated, “Being appointed today to the Stamford Police Department is an honor that our new recruit and her family should be very proud of. Stamford Police Officers are trained and prepared to respond to all types of incidents and interact professionally when residents are experiencing probably the worst moments of their lives. On completion of field training, I am confident that Officer Blake-Jarvis will be an asset to the department and the City to protect the lives and property of residents, and to respectfully serve the community with the highest quality of service.”

“Stamford is the safest in the region because of our exceptional Police Officers and their dedication to keeping the community safe. This new recruit fits the expectations we have for our officers,” said Chief Shaw. “This new recruit will be provided with the best training and equipment so that she too can provide the same level of dedication, professionalism and courage to keep our community safe.”
