The Stamford Police Special Response Team is a well-trained, disciplined, tactical team that is able and prepared to respond to any major tactical crisis within the city. The team’s primary mission is to resolve high-risk incidents, with a minimal loss of human life. Some of these incidents include hostage situations, high-risk search and arrest warrants, barricaded suspects, and any other situations deemed appropriate by the police administration.

The Special Response Team members have been carefully selected and must undergo vigorous physical training and education. Officer’s initial training includes several months of basic SWAT concepts. The team conducts monthly training in order to maintain their elite skills. SRT is a composite team made up of officers from various units/ divisions within the Department and are on call 24-hours a day.
