Officer Kelley was appointed a Supernumerary Stamford Police Officer on December 26, 1923 and he was appointed a regular Stamford Police Officer on January 15, 1931. On July 1, 1937 he became a member of the Motorcycle Motor Patrol Squad.

On Friday, July 8, 1938, at 5:30 am, he was on duty riding his motorcycle on Jefferson Street when his bike skidded throwing him against the front bumper of a light delivery truck. He died instantly of multiple injuries.

Officer Kelley celebrated his 39 birthday the night before his death. Officer Kelley served more than 6 years as a regular Stamford Police Officer and more than 13 years including his service as a Supernumerary Police Officer. He was survived by his wife, Katherine Kelley, his son, George Kelley, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Michael Kelley, three sisters and five brothers.

Officer McNamara was appointed a Stamford Police Officer on September 3, 1969. On Tuesday, December 18, 1973 at 3:00pm, Officer McNamara and his partner were dispatched to an armed robbery at Tower Liquor on Washington Blvd.

A man held up the clerk at gunpoint. He then took the clerk, at gunpoint, out of the rear door of the liquor store. Witnesses called the police. The robber was in the Hotel Hazelton lobby (near Tower Liquor) when Officer McNamara's partner entered the hotel. His partner saw the robber holding the clerk at gunpoint. The robber stepped back a few steps and pointed his gun at the officer. The officer shot at the armed robber hitting him in the arm causing him to fall to the ground. At that moment the officer saw another gun out of the corner of his eye. Thinking it was another suspect the officer fired, hitting Officer McNamara in the chest. Officer McNamara apparently approached from a small room off the hotel lobby to gain a better angle on the suspect. His partner in the heat of the moment mistook his identity as another armed suspect.

Officer McNamara was rushed to Stamford Hospital where he died in surgery from his wounds (4:17pm). The armed robber had taken $100.00 and three bottles of liquor from the liquor store. Officer McNamara's partner, who he had worked with as a team since they both became Police Officers in 1969, was cleared of any wrong doing, as the shooting of Officer McNamara was classified as accidental.

Officer McNamara was 31 years old at the time of his death having served over four years as a Stamford Police Officer. He was a four-year veteran of the United States Navy. He was survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Greco McNamara, a daughter, Laurie Ann McNamara, a son, Keith McNamara, his mother, Mary Armadi McNamara, two sisters and two brothers

Officer Schlechtweg was appointed a Stamford Police Officer on December 22,1924. Two years later, in 1926, he became a member of the Motorcycle Motor Patrol Squad.

On Thursday, May 26, 1938 at 9:00am Officer Schlechtweg was on duty riding his police motorcycle on East Main Street (Noroton Hill or Post Road) near Courtland Ave when a car struck him. After sliding 46 feet across the Post Road, on his motorcycle, he was taken, via the "police ambulance" to Stamford Hospital. He died, without ever regaining consciousness, at 10:20pm, due to a compound fracture of the skull.

Officer Schlechtweg was 41 years old at the time of his death, having served more than 13 years on the Stamford Police Department. He was a military veteran having served in the United States Navy during "the World War" (WWI). He was the son of the late Andrew L. Schlechtweg, former first selectman of Stamford. He was survived by his wife, Lillian Schlechtweg, a daughter Hope V. Schlechtweg, and his mother, Mrs. Freida Schlechtweg Waleron.

Officer Troy was appointed a Stamford Police Officer on March 26, 1958. On Thursday, July 7, 1960 at 9:36pm, Officer Troy and his partner were called to an armed robbery at the Skipper Bar and Restaurant on Main Street.

A witness pointed out where the robber ran. The officers chased after him. They ran down an alley behind Main Street, near Greyrock Place. The armed robber, hiding on a second floor porch, was found by Officer Troy. The robber was on a partially shielded metal stairwell on the second floor. Officer Troy was on the roof below him giving chase when the robber shot down at him. Officer Troy returned fire emptying his revolver. Officer Troy was shot in the chest and abdomen. After being shot, he slid off the roof to the ground and crawled under a truck for cover. Upon hearing the gunshots, his partner ran back finding him.

Troy was taken to the hospital and died at 10:02pm from his injuries. When the robber was subsequently captured, on a later day, it was discovered that he was shot once in the leg by Officer Troy. The robber had taken $75.00 to $100.00 in proceeds from the liquor store.

Officer Troy was 27 years old at the time of his death, having served over two years as a Stamford Police Officer. He was survived by his wife, Rose Consentino Troy, his three children, Diane (3yrs), Doreen (4yrs), & David Jr. (6 mos), his mother, Bridget Troy, two brothers and four sisters.
