Parking permits are required at Cove Island, Cummings, West Beach, John J. Boccuzzi, Dorothy Heroy & Newman Mills Riverbank Walk Parks from May 1st through September 30th.Cummings Park

Beach permits are now available for purchase online and at the government center for the 2024 beach season for Stamford residents.

  • You will be required to input your car’s license plate and attach necessary documentation in the on-line system.
  • If your license plate does not match what is in our system, you will be ticketed.
  • You must pay for your permit and receive a receipt in order for your permit to be valid. 
  • All information is available in your account at stamfordpermits.rmcpay.com.

Validation of permits will be enforced digitally based on the license plate that is approved within the city's permitting system.

How do I register for a beach pass if I do not own a vehicle?

The City of Stamford beach and parking permits are linked to registered vehicles. If you are a senior (over the age of 62) or are a person with a disability, you may be eligible for a beach and parking pass that is linked to your residency which you can use when taken to the beach.  Please note, your beach and parking permit will have your name on it and can only be used when you are a passenger in the vehicle.  Upon entering the parking lot, parking attendants will ask you to show proof of identification for your permit. 

To apply, please fill out the below application. Be sure to attach all required documentation.   After you have submitted your application, the cashiering and permitting department will review and approve. Once they have approved your application, you will receive another email with instructions on how to pay.   You must pay for your permit and receive a receipt in order for your permit to be valid.

Proof of Disability 

Please provide one of below listed documents:

  • State issued Certificate of Legal Blindness
  • State issued certificate of disability through the department of Adult and Disability Services
  • Letter from a doctor certifying your disability 
  • CT GO photo ID
  • Medicare ID 
  • SSDI letter of approval 

Proof of Residency 

As a substitute for vehicle registration, please submit one valid state issued Photo ID or CT Driver License plus 2 other documents from the list below:

  • Utility bill with your name and Stamford address
  • Renter’s agreement or Lease 
  • Real estate tax bill receipt
  •  Recent mail from a state agency providing disability related services must be no later than 2 months old

Caregiver Application Process

  • Please upload the caretaker’s car registration & State ID
  • Letter from senior or person who is disabled indicating name of their caregiver
  • A utility bill with the name & Stamford address of the disabled person
  • A government issued photo ID of the disabled person, showing Stamford address
  • The caretaker must come to the government center with all of these items and work with cashiering personnel at window 1 – The permit will be issued at that time.
  • The senior/disabled person DOES NOT need to be in attendance

The cost for this hang tag pass for the car is $7.44.  Once the application has been approved and paid for, the tag will be issued at the Cashiering and permitting office.  To have the application and documentation reviewed prior to coming in please email to cashiering@stamfordct.gov . Documents sent by email will be reviewed and approved prior to coming in for payment and pick up of permit.  This will ensure all forms are correct and eliminate the possibility have having to make multiple trips to the Government Center.

*MUST show driver’s license + electric/gas/oil bill plus registration.

NAME ON ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE THE SAME.

  • 6.35% State sales tax already included 

  • When Senior citizen discount is requested, a copy of driver’s license proving 62 years of age is required for at least ONE name that appears on the vehicle registration.

  • If vehicle is leased and your name DOES NOT appear on the registration, you need to present a copy of the lease agreement or the certificate of insurance.

  • Gold Star families, active-duty military personnel, veterans and military spouses must provide DD214 and/or evidence of active service to the Office of Cashiering and Permitting to establish eligibility for cost exemption. 

  • Stamford residents with OUT OF TOWN car registrations will be reported to the Tax Dept. and may be subject to a tax bill.


How to Purchase a Beach Permit

Online permits are being processed daily with short turnaround times. This can be done when you set up an account using the City of Stamford’s online permitting system.

You are strongly encouraged to purchase your beach permit online to avoid long wait times. For optimal results, use the link below and follow the instructions for the permit type you wish to purchase. You must pay at the end of the approval process to activate your beach permit.
