While the Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC) recommends everyone ages 12+ get the COVID-19 vaccine, it’s ok to have questions. The Stamford Department of Health invites parents, teenagers, and young adults to tune in to our FREE, live, virtual town hall as our healthcare professionals set the record straight on some of the most widespread myths about the COVID-19 vaccine and how COVID-19 affects kids, teenagers, and young adults. Additionally, Stamford residents Lili and Juana Levano will share their heartwarming story. This 30-min virtual town hall session will be moderated by Geovanna Fiallos, APRN-BC, City of Stamford Family Nurse Practitioner and feature Dr. Rod Acosta, Chief Physician Executive, President and CEO of Stamford Health Medical Group and Dr. Ester Ramirez, Pediatrician.

Speaker Bios

Dr. Rod Acosta, MD
Dr. Acosta presently serves as the President and CEO of Stamford Health Medical Group (SHMG) since 2014 and is the Chief Physician Executive at Stamford Hospital since 2019. SHMG is a physician-led, professionally managed and quality-driven multi-specialty medical group with 40 offices in lower Fairfield County.

Dr. Acosta is also a Family Medicine physician who specializes in adult preventive medicine and Geriatrics. Dr. Acosta started an independent practice in 1987, and after several successful years, became a founding partner of Stamford Family Practice.

Dr. Acosta and his partners joined SHMG in 2011, becoming the first primary care group to join. Dr. Acosta has served as Medical Director of several local skilled nursing facilities, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Chair of the Credentials Committee, Chair of the Peer Review Oversight Committee, and Chair of the medical staff at Stamford Hospital.

Dr. Acosta has received multiple awards and recognitions throughout his career including Compassionate Care Award from St. Camillus, Planetree Physician of the Year at Stamford Hospital, and has been named one of the Top Doctors in the New York Metropolitan area 16 years in a row.

Summer Pediatrics

Dr. Ester Ramirez-Cepeda, founded Summer Pediatrics in 2008. Since opening her own practice, she’s seen a steady increase in patients whose parents are drawn to her warmth, openness, and wealth of knowledge on childhood illnesses and treatments.

The youngest of 12 children, Dr. Ramirez-Cepeda is a native of the Dominican Republic. She earned her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra School of Medicine (PUCMM) and completed her residency in pediatrics at the world-renowned Mt. Sinai Medical School and Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, N.Y. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics with active memberships in the Connecticut chapter, the section on obesity, the section on international medical graduates, and the section on administration and practice management.

In addition to be a pediatrician, Dr. Ramirez enjoys walking outdoors, taking care of her garden and chickens, dancing, reading, meeting with friends, and traveling with her husband Jose and children (Sarah, Lucas, and Sofia).

Dr. Ester Ramirez-Cepeda, MD, FAAP

Summer Pediatrics

La Dra. Ester Ramirez-Cepeda, fundó Summer Pediatrics en 2008. Desde que abrió su propia práctica, ha visto un aumento constante de pacientes cuyos padres se sienten atraídos por su calidez, franqueza y riqueza de conocimientos sobre enfermedades y tratamientos infantiles.

For more than 10 years, Ms. Fiallos has been working with the Stamford community and has enjoyed providing holistic care to those who have multiple healthcare barriers and limited resources through federally qualified health centers. Ms. Fiallos graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Nursing in 2009 and received her Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Fairfield University in 2015 and attended the CHC Nurse Practitioner Residency training program in Primary Care.

Durante más de 10 años, la Sra.
