From the Mayor's Office

  • In advance of the expected severe weather on Thursday night and Friday morning, please remember to exercise caution on the roads. You can find more information on winter weather updates and resources here.
  • Stamford schools received over 15,000 rapid COVID-19 tests for students and over 2,000 for staff from the Connecticut Departments of Education and Health on January 4th.
  • The Board of Representatives approved the Mayor’s cabinet picks for Directors of Operations, Public Safety, and Legal Affairs.

COVID-19 Updates

Case Numbers

Follow the City of Stamford’s Covid-19 Dashboard, which provides the latest up-to-date information on COVID-19 cases and vaccination rates in the City.

Vaccinations

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) expanded eligibility of booster doses to those 12 to 15 years old.

  • Friday, January 7th, 2022: The vaccination sites at Hunt Park, Scalzi Park, and Cummings Beach will be closed due to the weather, but the Henry Street vaccination clinic is open from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.
  • Saturday, January 8th, 2022: The vaccination sites at Hunt Park and Scalzi Park will re-open from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The site at Cummings Beach Park remains closed.
  • Sunday January 9th, 2022: The vaccination sites at Hunt Park, Scalzi Park, and Cummings Beach will be open to all ages on Sunday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Next week, January 10th – January 14th, vaccines are available at the following locations free without an appointment:

All Ages

  • 137 Henry Street Clinic (2nd Floor), Monday - Saturday 8:30 am - 7 pm

 Ages 5-11 only

  • 137 Henry Street Clinic (2nd Floor). Monday & Thursday 1 pm - 7 pm

Ages 12 and up only

  • 137 Henry Street: Mon - Thurs 8:30 am – 7 pm, Fri 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
  • Scalzi Park: Mon - Fri 10 am – 4 pm
  • Cummings Beach: Mon - Fri 10 am – 4 pm
  • Hunt Park: Mon - Fri 10 am – 4 pm
  • Stamford Train Station: Tues & Thurs 12pm – 6pm

1st and 2nd doses are available to all, as well as booster shots for ages 18+ at all walk up vaccination clinics. Visit our website for more information on free pop-up locations around town.

Covid-19 Testing Sites

  • Cove Island testing site will be open next week at the following times:
    • Monday – Friday 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    • Saturday & Sunday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Demand has been high at this site which has resulted in temporary pauses throughout the day. Before going, please check the City's social media accounts or visit our website to make sure the site is currently open.

New Testing Site

The City of Stamford is pleased to announce that Accu Reference, a PCR testing provider, has opened up a COVID-19 testing site at 689 Canal Street, the location of the former Fairway Grocery Store in the South End. Accu Reference began testing today at 12:00 pm and closed tonight at 7:00 pm.

Tomorrow, they will operate from 11:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. due to the storm. 

The Canal Street testing site's normal hours are:

  • Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Other Resources

  • If you are unable to leave your home or are uncomfortable traveling to a vaccine site, the Stamford Department of Health will bring the vaccine to you. 
  • All information about Stamford's response to COVID-19 can be found on our website at www.stamfordct.gov/covid19.

Please visit the State of Connecticut's Vaccine Portal for information on how to request a new copy of your card. 


City Services

Due to the weather forecast of incoming snow early Friday morning, the regular scheduled residential garbage and recycling collection will occur on Saturday morning. Please do not place your toters curbside Thursday night.

Please try to stay off the roads during the storm as this allows our plows to work efficiently to fully clear our roads.

Stamford Public Schools are canceled tomorrow, January 7th due to the winter storm.

  • The Zoning Board will have a public hearing on Monday, January 10th at 6:30 pm. Click here for more information.
