MAYOR’S UPDATES

Mayor’s Monthly Message: Tune in to learn all about the exciting projects and initiatives we undertook this past month!

Weekly Local Business Spotlight: Cura Home Care Services

Each week I will highlight one of our incredible small businesses that received one of the 176 Stamford COVID-19 relief grants.

Cura Home Care Services provides in-home support for people to maintain their safety and independence when they can’t care for themselves such as the elderly and people with disabilities, injuries, or special needs. Based in Stamford with services provided throughout Fairfield County, Cura Home Care Services helps seniors remain in their homes long-term as an alternative to entering a nursing home or provide short-term transition care after hospitalization or rehabilitation.

Community Non-Profit Spotlight: The Alliance for Black Achievement

Each week I will highlight an invaluable local initiative that received one of the 21 Mayor’s Micro-Grants.

  • Mission: The Alliance for Black Achievement is solely focused on increasing the academic achievement and social-emotional well-being of Stamford Public Schools’ Black students by:
    • Elevating and embracing the voice of Black families
    • Implementing and sustaining programs and practices that promote Black student achievement.
    • Increasing the representation of Black educators at each level of the Stamford Public Schools
    • Establishing the Stamford Board of Education as a partner in leading this work
  • Project Funding Purpose: Funding was awarded to train students on how to facilitate community conversations on education topics.

  • Llama Lips Peruvian Restaurant Opening: This week, I stopped by Llama Lips which is a new Peruvian restaurant that recently opened in our city. Be sure to check them out at 870 East Main Street.
