MAYOR’S UPDATES

Weekly Local Business Spotlight: The Training Floor

Each week I will highlight one of our incredible small businesses that received one of the 176 Stamford COVID-19 relief grants.

The Training Floor at 346 Hope St. has been in business for 13 years and aims to change the way you think about working out. Their philosophy focuses on the big picture of fitness and is there to support you in reaching your goals through one-on-one personal training or small group classes such as Axle workouts, boot camps, and cardio boxing circuits.

Community Non-Profit Spotlight: SPEF

Each week I will highlight an invaluable local initiative that received one of the 21 Mayor’s Micro-Grants.

  • Mission: To elevate student success by delivering educational programs and solutions that promote equitable access to quality public education in Stamford.
  • Project Funding Purpose: Funding was awarded to support the Books Across Stamford initiative.

Details for the SPEF book giveaway happening for 1st - 5th graders from 1:00pm - 5:00 pm at the Ferguson Library on November 18th

  • Belltown Neighborhood Connectivity Grant Awarded: I am proud to share that Stamford was awarded $800,000 from the Connecticut Department of Transportation for the Belltown Neighborhood Connectivity and Safety Project from the Community Connectivity Program. Our administration is committed to continuing to invest in a city that improves mobility, pedestrian safety, and aligns with our Vision Zero goals.

  • Interfaith Vigil: This week, I was honored to join faith leaders and residents for the Interfaith Vigil for Peace and Healing hosted by the Interfaith Council. During these challenging times with the rise in hate crimes and violence, it’s important that we come together as a community in the spirit of peace, compassion, and love and celebrate the diversity of faiths we have in Stamford.
