Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

As we enjoy this Memorial Day Weekend, I want to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service of our nation. We must never forget their names, their stories, their families and the enduring legacy of their courage and dedication to the pursuit of our freedom.

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • Stamford Parks Community Partnership: Earlier this week, I was proud to announce the Stamford Parks Community Partnership, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit aimed to foster stronger collaboration between the city, local businesses, and residents in developing and maintain Stamford’s parks system and recreational areas. This Partnership will leverage private funding to ensure Stamford’s parks are accessible for future generations and it already has several corporate commitments, including from Wellbuilt Company, Henkel, Philip Morris International, and the Ashforth Company, as well as a dollar for dollar match up to $100,000 commitment from Dalio Education. Click here to learn more about the Stamford Parks Community Partnership and how to get involved.

Parks Partnership

  • Haitian Flag Day: Last weekend, it was wonderful to celebrate Haitian Flag Day and recognize Stamford’s vibrant Haitian American community. The Haitian flag symbolizes pride, resilience, and the spirit of the Haitian people and their fight for freedom and independence. My thoughts remain with the Haitian people and those in our community impacted by the ongoing unrest in Haiti.

  • Tresser Boulevard and Washington Boulevard Milling and Paving: A milling and paving operation will require lane closures and alternating traffic at the intersection of Tresser Boulevard and Washington Boulevard. The milling operation will begin the night of Wednesday, May 29th through the morning of Friday May 31st, 2024. The paving operation is scheduled to begin the night of Tuesday, June 4th through the morning of Friday June 7th, 2024. Motorists can expect lane closures and alternating traffic at the intersection of Tresser Boulevard and Washington Boulevard. • Lakeside Drive Bridge Replacement: As of April 1st, the Lakeside Drive Bridge is closed to all traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians. The traffic light at the intersection of High Ridge Road and Interlaken Road has been revised with the timing of the green light in order to avoid the back up of cars traveling both southbound and northbound. Please stay away from the construction site for your own safety. There is only access to the Aquarion Water treatment plant provided pass Quarry Road. For detour plans and more information click here.

We anticipate that the bridge may be closing on Monday, June 10th.
