A picture of barriers blocking entrance to Mill Road Bridge

The Mill Road bridge near Old Long Ridge road is closed to traffic due to its condition.  Detour signs have been placed by the Traffic Department to guide traffic around the closure.  A detour map using Rock Rimmon Road can be found below.

The Traffic Department has replaced signs at the intersection of Mill Road and Mill Spring Lane so that drivers understand that the bridge is closed, but the local traffic can still get to their destination.  Also, the barricade was moved so that it is not blocking the lane at this intersection.  In addition to the detour signs, the Traffic Department has notified some driving applications of the bridge closure, this means that if a person is using a driving app to get to their destination, the app will direct the driver to use the detour route.  For example, Waze app has been notified of the bridge closure.

The City hired WMC, engineering firm, to perform a load analysis of the existing bridge.  This firm came out to do another inspection on Tuesday and they are working on the evaluation.  We should receive an assessment and an option assessment within a month from 6/14.

The Engineering Department had a meeting with Fire Chief and the Director of Public Safety Health and Welfare on 6/14 to go over the emergency plan.  Fire Chief Morris is aware of the situation and will make the emergency plan.

The State Grant Application was submitted before the deadline of May 31.  We received a confirmation of the receipt of the application.  Mill Road bridge is being considered part of the priority list based on its condition.
