 Municipal Valuation

The 2022 revaluation of all real estate in the City of Stamford is complete.  As per the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut (§12-55 & §12-62(f) and local ordinance property assessment notices were recently mailed to all property owners.  The new assessment represents 70% of the estimated fair market value as of October 1, 2022.  The last revaluation was performed as of October 1, 2017.

Informal Hearings

Informal Hearings:     12/19/2022 – 1/13/2023 

If you believe the estimated 2022 market value is different and wish to have your new proposed assessment reviewed with a representative of Municipal Valuation Services, LLC, you may do so by scheduling an appointment online, using the website listed below. All Informal hearings will be held by appointment only at the Stamford Government Center, 4th floor located at 888 Washington Boulevard Stamford, Connecticut. Please provide any evidence supporting your opinion of value to the representative at the time of the review. Make sure to bring duplicated copies of your information, NO materials will be returned.

You will need the PID# in order to book your appointment which can be found at  http://gis.vgsi.com/stamfordct/. If you have more than two parcels you wish to discuss, please do not schedule online, instead call the number below for additional scheduling options. 

Please book your appointment PRIOR to January 2, 2023.

If you do not have access to a computer, you may call Municipal Valuation Services at (203) 292-5500 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday-Friday excluding public holidays. Please keep in mind that the call center operators making the appointments are not qualified to discuss values or parcel data.

If you wish to appeal your assessment after receiving a Notice of Change or No Change Form from this informal hearing process with Municipal Valuation Services, LLC, you may appeal to the Board of Assessment Appeals pursuant to C.G.S. §12-111. In order to appeal, you must file the prescribed appeal form with the Assessors Office. All applications must be postmarked, or hand delivered no later than February 17, 2023. The prescribed form and instructions will be available in the City of Stamford Assessor’s Office and on the City’s website Board of Assessment Appeals.

The Board will notify you by mail of the hearing date which will be held in March, 2023.  If you are not satisfied with the hearing results you may continue your appeal in state Superior Court pursuant to Connecticut General Statute §12-117a.  To view assessments online visit Vision AppraisalPlease note, the Mayor is reviewing the effect of a phase-in of this revaluation to reduce the impact on Stamford taxpayers who saw a substantial increase in property values.
