Appeals must be filed within 15 calendar days of the ticket issuance.  In order for you to accurately track an appeal, an appeal should be filed on line. If you do not have access to a computer, please see below.  When submitting an appeal, include and submit all supporting documentation: pictures, copies of permits, meter receipts, registration and repair bills; etc

Failure to provide this documentation will result in a denial of your appeal. This is the most efficient way for residents to appeal their parking tickets. 

When you appeal your ticket within 15 days of issuance, your penalties will not accrue fees or penalties on your ticket until the determination of your appeal.  If you appeal is denied, you will be responsible for paying all fees and penalties due.  In addition, please do not pay your ticket if you have appealed it.

A decision on your appeal will be mailed to your home address.

Written Ticket Appeals

If you do not have access to a computer, appeal forms can be obtained at each Cashiering and Permitting window located in the lobby of the Stamford Government Center. This is not an opportunity for you to verbally appeal your ticket.  You must fill out the form, drop off at the window and it will be entered into the queue for processing. You must include and submit the following information on your written appeal: 

• Date of appeal
• Written explanation of why you are appealing your parking ticket
• Parking ticket number
• Name
• License Plate Number
• Street Address and Zip Code
• Phone or cell number
• e-mail address 

All documentation supporting your appeal must be submitted with it.  Failure to submit documentation will result in a denial of your appeal. Please include, if applicable:

• Copy of valid permit, parking, handicapped or residential parking permit zone.
• Copy of vehicle registration 
• Vehicle repair receipt 
• Meter Receipt 

You may also submit by mail an appeal in writing, by including the above information with a BRIEF explanation mailed Parking Violations, 888 Washington Boulevard, and 1st Floor Stamford, CT 06901.

A decision on your appeal will be mailed to your home address.

Penalties for Late Payments

If the ticket is not paid within 15 calendar dates after ticket issuance the said fine will double. Failure to pay within 60 calendar days of ticket issuance the said fine will triple provided however, that such penalty shall exceed $250.00.  Fines will be put on hold while the ticket is on appeal. 

If your appeal is denied you may request a formal hearing conducted by a parking ticket appeals hearing officer. You can request the formal hearing by coming into the City of Stamford Parking Violations Office and requesting a hearing in writing.  If your appeal is rejected at the hearing, you may appeal at Stamford Superior Court Part D.
