Your City at Work: From the Mayor's Desk

Read below to hear about upcoming events, important city and state information, and resources for Stamford residents.

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • On March 8th, I presented my proposed budget to our local boards. To learn more, visit here. Over the next five weeks, I will be visiting neighborhoods throughout the City to share my budget priorities and talk about how they support my vision of creating a more inclusive, equitable, affordable and a vibrant City, while delivering a fiscally responsible budget that aims to ease the property tax burden on residents by mitigating the effects of the 2022 property revaluation.
  • This week, my administration announced the initial paving list of 36 roads for 2023 because of our enactment of “Pave Stamford” in last year’s budget (the program will pave 200 roads in four years!). We anticipate adding additional roads for 2023. In my proposed 2023-2024 budget, I have maintained the 2022 level of funding to support this critical initiative to make Stamford safer, easier to travel, and more livable for residents, businesses, and visitors and (which aims to pave 200 roads in four years). The list can be found here.
  • We know we face a housing crisis in Stamford and across the state, and these state dollars will mean new opportunities for safe and reliable housing for our fellow residents. Last week, I joined Governor Lamont to announce $2.4 million in state funding for Pacific House to build 39 units of affordable housing.

  • This week, I joined the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the opening of Matrix Rental Solutions – a financial company that helps tenants access affordable housing solutions through their online platform! We are glad that Sipho Simela chose Stamford to open this business! Each new business means new revenue and new jobs for our community, helping our city prosper.
