Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

Stamford Kindness Project: On November 3rd, we launched the Stamford Kindness Project and it will continue until December 25, 2023. Make sure to use #StamfordKindnessProject on social media to spread the word! Learn more here.

 

MAYOR’S UPDATES

 

  • Food Truck Friday: Thank you to Avellino Family BBQ, Tropical Island Spice, and Lovely Louise for participating in the first Food Truck Friday! The weather was perfect, and we look forward to bringing Food Truck Fridays back next summer.

  • Jackie Robinson Park Tree Lighting: Not even the rain could stop Tuesday night’s tree lighting at Jackie Robinson Park! Thank you to John and Cecelia DaRosa, Kenny Greene, the Stamford Police Department, and the Parks and Recreation Department for their support in making this tradition possible.

  • Veterans Thanksgiving Lunch: This week in recognition of Thanksgiving, we held a veterans appreciation lunch to express our gratitude to the men and women who have served our country. Thank you to all the volunteers from the Veterans Resource Center who helped organize this special event!

  • Inspirica Thanksgiving Meals: On Tuesday, members of my team and I visited Inspirica to help assemble Thanksgiving meals that were distributed to families for the holiday. Thank you to the Inspirica team for all you do to support individuals facing homelessness in our community.

  • Belltown Neighborhood Connectivity Grant: I am proud to share that the City of Stamford was awarded $800,000 from the Connecticut Department of Transportation for the Belltown Neighborhood Connectivity and Safety Project. Our administration is committed to continuing to invest in projects that improves mobility, pedestrian safety, and aligns with our Vision Zero goals.

 

CITY NEWS

  • Shop Local Winter Guide: The City of Stamford recently launched its first Shop Local Guide! We encourage residents to use the guide during the holiday season to shop locally and support our small business. To view the list, click here.

     

  • Stamford Transportation Center Master Plan: Our administration has been actively meeting with the Connecticut Department of Transportation and city transportation officials to continue to make progress on the Stamford Train Station Master Plan. To view the Stamford Transportation Center Master Plan, visit: stcmasterplan.com.

     

  • Paving Update: The City of Stamford has announced 200 roads to be paved over the next several years as identified in the city-wide road assessment. The city-wide road assessment was commissioned in 2022 and conducted over the past year with the goal of determining an objective measure to establish a priority list for paving operations. The list of the 200 roads can be viewed here.

 

  • Shop Local Spring Campaign: Are you a Stamford resident with a small business? We want to highlight you during our Shop Local Spring Campaign. Send your business details to calexander@stamfordct.gov

 

CITY EVENTS


  • Walk-In Permitting Office Hours Extended: Walk-in permitting has been expanded! Walk-in permitting will occur every other Wednesday from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm in the 4th floor cafeteria of the Stamford Government Center (888 Washington Boulevard). The next walk-in permitting session will be on Wednesday, December 6th. For more information, click here.

  • Temporary Roadways at the Greenwich Ave and Pulaski Street Intersection: Temporary roadways are in place at the Greenwich Avenue & Pulaski Street intersection. Use caution, plan for extra travel time, and slowdown in work zones. Access to businesses will remain open. To learn more about the project, click here.

     

  • Connecticut Department of Transportation Stamford Station Construction: Construction continues at the Stamford Train Station, so please make sure to plan ahead. Passengers can find the updated train schedulehere.
