Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year. I am honored to serve as your mayor, and I look forward to continuing to build on the progress we’ve made over the past 2 years!

Weekly Local Business Spotlight: Bedford Hall

Each week I will highlight one of our incredible small businesses that received one of the 176 Stamford COVID-19 relief grants.

Bedford Hall is a Stamford favorite for lunch, dinner, drinks, and brunch. Located at 135 Bedford Street, the restaurant also offers takeout, delivery, and private event space.

Community Non-Profit Spotlight: C.O.R.N.E.R.S Community Inc.

Each week I will highlight an invaluable local initiative that received one of the 21 Mayor’s Micro-Grants.

  • Mission: To challenge their community to restore neighborhood equity and ensure reliable schooling for all
  • Project Funding Purpose: To create a mural at Hart Magnet School

MAYOR’S UPDATES

Stamford Resiliency Grant: Congressman Jim Himes and I were joined by staff from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Stamford WPCA for a tour of the Stamford Hurricane Barrier and the Dyke Lane Pump Station. We received a $2.73 million Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant from FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency to upgrade the hurricane protection barrier and the pump station.
