Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

On Wednesday, I unveiled my proposed budget for the coming fiscal year, outlining an agenda that will improve the quality of life for residents of Stamford through investments in infrastructure, public safety, affordable housing, and our local parks system.

 My budget proposes:

  • The Board of Finance lower the mill rate to 24.14 mills (one of the lowest in the state)
  • Expanding the Senior Property Tax Credit
  • Holding the Personal Property and Motor Vehicle Mill Rates flat

This budget reflects my vision for our City, which means that we are:

  • Investing in our roads and sidewalks to create a safer and more accessible experience for all pedestrians.
  • Expanding access to programs and resources will offer residents access to safe, rehabilitated, and affordable housing options.
  • Prioritizing aging public safety equipment and facilities to better support Police, Fire, and 911 front-line public servants.
  • Revitalizing public school buildings to provide Stamford students with a safe and accommodating place to learn.
  • Enhancing public parks to help make Stamford a more resilient and sustainable community.

Weekly Local Business Spotlight: Dew Yoga

Each week, we highlight one of our incredible small businesses that received a 176 Stamford COVID-19 relief grant.

Dew Yoga, located at 1051 Long Ridge Rd. was founded in 2010 and offers yoga classes and teacher training, meditation, and wisdom teachings that focus on wellness and bringing the community together. Their classes are available in person and online. The yoga classes are not leveled based on experience but distinguished by the level of energy you bring to your mat: gentle, moderate, or vigorous.
