 Senior Tax Credit

senior tax

With inflation and the rising cost of living, I'm proud that we expanded the senior tax credit - for the first time since 2015. This expansion will provide relief to Stamford seniors during this challenging time. Applications can be submitted in-person through Friday, May 13th. You can call (203)-977-5888 to schedule an appointment. More information can be found on the City's website: https://www.stamfordct.gov/government/administration/property-assessment/elderly-tax-credit.

COVID-19

Yesterday morning, my husband tested positive for COVID-19 via a PCR test. Subsequently, I took an at-home rapid test and tested positive. I am vaccinated and boosted and we are both feeling well and are now isolating at home.

I want to remind everyone to utilize effective interventions to fight off the COVID-19 virus including getting vaccinated and boosted, proper masking, and social distancing when appropriate.

For more information about testing or vaccinations, visit the City of Stamford’s Department of Health website: https://www.stamfordct.gov/government/public-safety-health-welfare/department-of-health/covid-19-info.

It was wonderful to meet with students participating in Project Music at King School on Monday! Project Music empowers students through music to effect positive social change. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who work with the students to provide these opportunities!

Welcome Mirador

 Mirador

Exciting news - Mirador, LLC, a leading managed services firm in the wealth management industry, is moving to Stamford! The company is making this move from Darien and came into this year with 65 employees. They have already added 35 additional employees to their headcount this year, and are on their way to adding about 250 more jobs in the state over the next three years.

We are excited to have the Mirador team in Stamford and huge thanks to our Director of Economic Development Loren Nadres for leading this effort as well as our state partners, Office of Governor Ned Lamont, AdvanceCT CEO Peter Denious, and Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner David Lehman for their support during this process.

 Synchrony Skills Academy Opening

Skills Academy

I was thrilled to join Office of Governor Ned Lamont, Representative Jim Himes, and Representative Hubert Delany to celebrate the opening of the Synchrony Skills Academy, which is dedicated to former CEO Margaret Keane and a trailblazer in the financial services industry on Monday.

The Synchrony Skills Academy will provide skills training programs, including an intensive 12-week bootcamp with General Assembly where individuals will gain software engineering skills and an eight-month after school digital training program where high school students will have the opportunity to gain critical skills in web development and data analytics.

As the economy continues to change, it is imperative that we provide critical training to students to make sure they are prepared to compete in a global and digital economy. Stamford is proud to be the home of Synchrony’s headquarters and to partner with them on this mission.

This is just one platform where I will be sharing updates on a weekly basis, but you can also connect with me and my administration on the platforms below:
And of course, I will be out and about across the city every week visiting with local businesses, meeting with constituents, and hearing from stakeholders in our city – so I hope I’ll be able to talk to you in person very soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!
