BEFORE & AFTER: A new sidewalk and crosswalk has been installed by the Transportation, Traffic & Parking Department at Washington Boulevard and Second Street. This project improves safety and mobility for pedestrians along this busy walking corridor.

Thank you to our Transportation, Traffic & Parking team for their commitment to making Stamford more pedestrian safe for residents.

Stamford Firefighters Receive Medal of Valor

stamford fire

I am so proud of the brave actions of Stamford Firefighters Chad Titus, Michael Rosero and John Colandro, who were among the fifteen public safety officers honored with the Medal of Valor at a ceremony at the White House this week.

Last year, these firefighters dove into freezing water during a blizzard to rescue two trapped occupants of a truck that was rapidly sinking below the waterline at Cummings Beach. After rescuing one victim, the truck fully submerged and facing strong offshore winds, the rescuers then broke a glass window - while underwater - and successfully pulled the remaining passenger out to safety.

This is one of the highest honors to receive and we are extremely proud that their actions were acknowledged by President Joe Biden.

Stamford Day

stamford day

It was great to celebrate Stamford Day at Mill River Park last weekend! The City of Stamford was founded on May 16th, 1641 - 381 years ago! We have since become one of the most diverse cities in the country. Thank you to the Mayor’s Multicultural Council for hosting this event and all the community groups and volunteers who participated and shared in the celebration of our wonderful city.

Ban Off Our Bodies Rally

women rally

I was proud to stand with advocates and activists last Sunday at the Ban Off Our Bodies Rally. I stand in solidarity with all of the women and girls in Stamford and across our country as we fight back against the attempt to roll back the clock on women’s rights.

We know this is not new, nor is this just about the right to abortion. This is about a woman’s ability to have control over her own body, about her own health care decisions. This is also an economic and health justice issue, as we know abortion restrictions disproportionately impact women of color.

Thank you to everyone who attended Sunday's rally and for standing up and using your voice to protect women’s rights.

I know the hardship that many families are currently facing due to the baby formula shortage. Above are some helpful resources to assist Stamford families during this time. Contact your pediatrician for additional advice and ways to ensure the health and safety of your infant.
