This newsletter is compiled by Mayor Simmons’ Administration to provide Stamford residents with information about critical updates on city services, state programs and community activities. If you have information that should be included in this newsletter — or believe some information is incorrect — please contact the City's Communications Staff

Exciting News from the Mayor's Office

  • The Connecticut Child Tax Rebate is now accepting applications. Please click here to learn more and apply.
  • Join the City of Stamford and Full Court Peace on July 3rd from 11:00 am – 3:00pm to repaint the basketball court at Scalzi Park. Please click here to sign up or email Aaron Miller (amiller1@stamfordct.gov) to sign up for a shift.

 

Important Information for Stamford Residents

  • Taxes bills have been released, view the notice here.
  • Stamford households can order an additional 12 at-home COVID-19 test kits. Orders can be placed here.
  • Residents can submit road paving suggestions for the Tier 2 list of the “Pave Stamford” initiative here.

Important Independence Day Fireworks Information 

Fireworks will take place tomorrow, July 1st at Cummings Beach @ 9:00 PM

  • Parking Information

    • No parking either side of Shippan Avenue from Wallace Street to the Magee Avenue intersection as of 3:00 PM.
    • No parking on the left side of Iroquois, Wampanaw & Rippowam Road as of 3:00 PM.
    • At 8:00 PM, the intersection of Shippan Avenue / Magee Avenue will be closed to southbound traffic and only resident access is available at that time. At 8:30 PM, Magee Avenue will be closed to traffic.
    • At 9:00 PM, Shippan Avenue from Wallace Street north will become one way northbound only (2 lanes). Magee Avenue will be one way northbound only (2 lanes).

  • After the Show

    • Traffic exiting Shippan Point will be directed north onto Magee Avenue and west onto Jefferson (Urban Transitway) for access to Canal Street, Atlantic Street, and Washington Boulevard toward I-95.
    • Traffic exiting Cummings Park via Shippan Avenue will be directed north onto Shippan Avenue to access Elm Street, Myrtle Avenue, I-95, and East Main Street.
    • Traffic exiting Cummings Park via Soundview Avenue will utilize Soundview Avenue or Willowbrook Avenue to Cove Road.
    • Foot traffic at Cummings Park will be released first, followed by vehicles.

 

COVID-19 Updates

Case Numbers: Follow the City of Stamford’s Covid-19 Dashboard, which provides the latest up-to-date information on COVID-19 cases and vaccination rates in the City.

Vaccination Sites:

  • Friday, July 1st, 2022:

The vaccination site at Scalzi Park will be open from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. The vaccination site will be open at Cummings Beach from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. The Henry Street vaccination clinic is open from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.

  • Saturday, July 2nd, 2022:

The vaccination site at Westover School will be open from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The vaccination site at Cummings Beach will be open from 9:30 am - 3:30 pm. The Scalzi Park site will be open from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. The Jackie Robinson Park site will be open from 11:30am – 5:30 pm, and the Lione Park site will be open from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. The Cove Island vaccine tent will be open from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

  • Sunday, July 3rd, 2022:

The vaccination site at Jackie Robinson Park will be open from 11:30 am – 5:00 pm. Cove and West Beach Vaccine Tents will be open from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Next week, 7/4– 7/7 vaccines are available at the following locations free without an appointment:

  • All Ages
  • 137 Henry Street Clinic: Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Scalzi Park: Tuesday - Thursday 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • Cummings Park: Thursday 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
  • West Beach: Monday – Wednesday 10:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • Cove Island: Tuesday – Thursday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Jackie Robinson Park: Tuesday 11:30 am – 5:30 pm
  • Rippowam School: Wednesday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • 1st and 2nd doses are available to all, as well as booster shots for ages 5+ (Pfizer) and 18+ (Moderna/J&J) at all walk up vaccination clinics.

Covid-19 Testing Sites

  • St. Mary’s Church (566 Elm St) testing site will be open at the following times:
  • Monday – Friday 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • Accu Reference (689 Canal St) testing site will be open at the following times:
  • Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 7:00 pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

Other Resources

  • If you are unable to leave your home or are uncomfortable traveling to a vaccine site, the Stamford Department of Health will bring the vaccine to you. Please call 203-977-4378 or 203-977-4369 to schedule your free in-home COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

 

City Services

  • The Take it Or Leave it Shop and the Book Swap Shop are now open:
  • The Take It or Leave It Shop is open on Tuesday & Friday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
  • The Book Swap is open on Tuesday & Saturday from 11:00 am -1:00 pm
  • The Scofield Special Collection (55 Rock Rimmon Rd) will be held from 8:00 am-2:00 pm on July 9th, August 6th, September 10th and October 1st
  • Regularly scheduled garbage and recycling collection will happen on July 4th, the Transfer Station, Scale House, and Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center will be closed. All facilities will reopen July 5th
  • The Hazardous Waste Collection event will be held at Rippowam on July 16th, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

  • The Miles Make Smiles Community Walk Events for Mental Well-Being kickoff will be Wednesday, July 6th at 5:00 pm in Cove Island Park.
