Visit to Stamford Fire Department

Fire Station Visit 2Fire Station Visit 1

Last week, I was proud to join members of my team and my legislative colleagues to honor the crews from the Stamford Fire Department who saved the lives of two women on July 5 - one who was struck and trapped under a bus and the other who fell between the track and platform at the Springdale Train Station.

We are so proud of the Stamford Fire Department’s outstanding service, professionalism, and commitment every day to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of residents of this community.

 AAA Bond Rating

 AAA Bond

I am pleased to announce that Stamford has been awarded the highest credit rating possible – a AAA rating – which reflects our City’s fiscal health and sound fiscal management. I want to thank Director of Administration Sandy Dennies, our budget team, members of my cabinet, and city employees for their hard work and commitment to fiscal sustainability. I expressed to our rating agencies my commitment to implementing responsible budget practices, reducing our debt, and securing more state and federal funding to reduce the burden on Stamford taxpayers.

Heat Wave Advisory and Tips

Extreme Heat

As we continue to experience a heat wave in our area through this weekend, please use caution when going outdoors and take care of yourself and your family.

Prevention tips to stay safe in extreme heat include:

  1. Call 211 for a list of cooling centers throughout Connecticut. Stamford residents can visit the lobby of the Government Center (888 Washington Boulevard) between 8:00 am - 9:00 pm. Alternative cooling sites include public access areas like the Ferguson Library branches.
  2. Stay in air-conditioned buildings as much as possible. If you must be outdoors, try to limit your outdoor activity to the morning and evening. Try to rest often in shady areas so that your body has a chance to cool off.
  3. Drink more water than usual.
  4. Avoid direct sunlight.
  5. Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
  6. Take cool showers or baths.
  7. Check on those most at-risk several times a day.
  8. Pets that cannot be brought indoors should be provided ready access to water and shade to keep them cool.

Pacific House Shelter and Inspirica Visit

 Pacific House Water

During this heat wave, it’s important to stay hydrated. This week, I dropped off water and thanked the Inspirica - from homeless to home and Pacific House Shelter and Deeply Affordable Housing staff for their critical work to help homeless individuals in our community. Click the links below to see how you can help these organizations: Pacific House: https://www.pacifichouse.org Inspirica: https://www.inspiricact.org

This is just one platform where I will be sharing updates on a weekly basis, but you can also connect with me and my administration on the platforms below
And of course, I will be out and about across the city every week visiting with local businesses, meeting with constituents, and hearing from stakeholders in our city – so I hope I’ll be able to talk to you in person very soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!
