MAYOR CAROLINE SIMMONS LAUNCHES GLOBAL STAMFORD INITIATIVE

STAMFORD, CT – This week, Mayor Caroline Simmons and the City of Stamford’s Director of Economic Development Loren Nadres announced the launch of the Global Stamford Initiative at a gathering of over 40 members of the Foreign Trade Commissioners Association (FTCA) hosted by the Consulate of Ireland in New York City.

The Global Stamford Initiative focuses on promoting the City of Stamford as a prime location for international businesses to re-locate. Today’s event included a presentation by Mayor Simmons with an overview of the City of Stamford as well as a question-and-answer segment with participants.

“My administration’s economic development priorities focus on innovation, business retention, and business attraction and the Global Stamford Initiative is the way my team and I will communicate this message to international stakeholders,” said Mayor Caroline Simmons. “With our diverse population, highly skilled and educated workforce, quality of life, and strong business ecosystem, the City of Stamford has so much to offer that makes it an attractive location for businesses and employers. We are excited to continue these conversations as we work to make Stamford a global destination for smart and innovative economic development.”

“Stamford’s thriving business community, beautiful commercial real estate and proximity to New York City make it an ideal location for businesses looking to establish a presence in the United States,” said Loren Nadres, Director of Economic Development. “As a city where over 70 languages are spoken at home, we welcome international businesses into our community. Global Stamford’s successful launch shows the high demand and interest from the international business community in exploring Stamford as their next home to successfully start and grow their companies.”

The Foreign Trade Commissioners Association, who co-hosted the event, has a member base representing 100+ countries and global cities focused on commerce, business exchange, and trade.
