MAYOR SIMMONS APPLAUDS OVER $6 MILLION FOR CITY OF STAMFORD APPROVED IN CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING PROJECTS

STAMFORD, CT – Today, Mayor Caroline Simmons announced that the City of Stamford received over $6 million in congressionally directed spending projects approved in the recent Omnibus Appropriations bill passed by the U.S Congress and signed into law by President Joe Biden. These projects include:

  • $3 million for the construction of an East Side Branch of the Ferguson Library
  • $2 million for upgrading City streetlights to energy-saving LED streetlights
  • $1 million for installing 50 bioswales across Stamford
  • $639,000 for maintenance of the Stamford hurricane barrier
  • $250,000 to purchase training equipment for a Regional Police Academy

“I am thrilled that these congressional earmark requests were approved by the U.S. Congress,” said Mayor Simmons. “Each of these projects were submitted because they will provide critical investments in key priority areas that my administration is focused on – infrastructure, public safety, sustainability, and improving quality of life. I want to thank Congressman Himes, Senator Murphy, and Senator Blumenthal for their support and advocacy for these projects and I look forward to continuing to work with them to secure federal funding for the City of Stamford.”
