Stamford Arts & Culture Grant Winners Announced

STAMFORD, Conn. — Mayor Caroline Simmons and the Stamford Arts and Culture Commission are proud to announce the winners of the 2023 Stamford Arts & Culture (SAC) Grant. The commission received over 25 grant applications with over $275,000 in grant aid requested. Grantees were selected for funding based on their commitment to providing quality programs that are accessible, diverse, and innovative for Stamford residents and add to Stamford’s artistic and cultural scene.

“I want to thank Chair Colatrella and the entire Arts and Culture Commission for their work on these grants,” said Mayor Caroline Simmons. “The arts are such an important part of the vibrancy of our City, and the diversity of this year’s grants recipients demonstrates just how deep the arts and culture scene is in Stamford. I look forward to seeing the many projects that come from this creative group.”

“I am thrilled that we had so many different organizations apply for the Arts and Culture grant this year,” said Aaron Miller, Arts and Culture Program Manager. “The excitement from this year’s recipients is palpable and this grant will allow so many different organizations to thrive. Stamford residents will have access to new avenues of arts education and entertainment and for a community as diverse as ours, it’s a very exciting thing to watch unfold.”

This year’s winners are, in alphabetical order:

Architecture Workshop: $7,500

Latino Foundation of Stamford: $7,500

Avon Theatre: $10,000

Loft Artist Association: $12,500

Ballet School of Stamford: $15,000

Project Music: $15,000

Carwin Park: $3,000

Quetzal: $4,500

Connecticut Ballet: $15,000

All School Musical: $9,000

Ecuadorian Civic Committee: $7,500

Slowianie: $3,000

En Vivo con Maricarmen: $10,000

Stamford Arts Association: $10,000

Highland Green Foundation: $5,000

Stamford Chorale: $8,500

INTEMPO: $15,000

Stamford Pride: $12,500

Jewish Historical Society: $5,500

Taller Marinera: $8,000

La Tertulia: $7,500

 

 

"On behalf of the commissioners, I am pleased that our grant awardees represent so many different parts of Stamford’s arts and culture organizations,” said Lynne Colatrella, Chair of the Arts and Culture Commission. “Their work in arts programming and arts education will be of immense benefit to all our residents. We wish all the arts and cultural organization in Stamford the best of luck and continued success.”

 

For more than 20 years, the Stamford Arts & Culture Grant has provided dozens of Stamford-based arts and cultural organizations with funding to initiate special projects within the City. Mayor Simmons continues to support the arts and culture scene in Stamford, and this year, the City of Stamford committed $191,500 in grant funding for projects by Stamford-based arts organizations or groups backed by a Stamford-based non-profit.
