Gate Operation/Closures and Channel Closures for Testing/Maintenance Needs Occurring the Week of April 24th at the Stamford Hurricane Barrier

The Corps of Engineers has scheduled a closure of the navigation channel and gate at the Stamford Hurricane Barrier coastal protection project on the East Branch Harbor in Stamford, CT for Monday, April 24th. The channel will be closed to all vessel traffic to allow for an underwater inspection of the gate's hinge and arm assembly portions.

The channel will be closed to traffic from approximately 6:00 a.m. and remain closed to approximately till 6:00 p.m. 

It should also be noted that multiple gate operations will also be performed to assess the operating system’s components to capture vital data necessary for maintenance repairs Tuesday, April 25th through Thursday, April 27th, 2023.  Intermittent gate closures will occur throughout the listed dates from approximately 7:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Closures can last up to 3 hours to 40 minutes at time.

Interested parties are requested to make appropriate notifications and adjustments in your operating schedules for the period the channel and gate will be closed.
