Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

Read below to hear about upcoming events, important city and state information, and resources for Stamford residents.

MAYOR’S UPDATES

As our Boards of Finance and Representatives review my administration’s budget proposal, I am proud to share our budget priorities and how they support my vision of creating a more inclusive, equitable, affordable, and vibrant City. Please let me know if there’s an event that I or my team can join to update you on our progress!

  • This week I was glad to join Charter Oak leaders to celebrate these projects which fit into my goal of creating a more inclusive, equitable, and affordable city.
  • On Wednesday, I announced $1.25 million in funding from our city’s capital budget to support the redevelopment of 166 affordable housing units at Oak Park on the East Side.

  • On Tuesday, I joined Congressman Himes, Vin Tufo (CEO of Charter Oak Communities), and other state and local officials to announce the opening of the newly renovated Oak Lawn apartments. This housing development includes a number of refurbished affordable housing units and was partially funded by fee in lieu payments that get generated by new developments in Stamford.
  • This week, I joined Attorney General William Tong and the Stamford Police Department to announce a joint enforcement action that resulted in the confiscation of thousands of illegal delta-8 THC and other high THC cannabis products found at three Stamford smoke shops. We have a zero-tolerance city policy for the sale of illegal and unregulated cannabis products.
  • Join me on April 21 to celebrate Earth Day as we unveil our Parks Strategic Plan! Throughout the day, we'll be at Cove Island Park, Carwin Park, Drotar Park, or Chestnut Hill Park. Learn more here.
  • Last week, I joined the Stamford Veterans Resource Center and Veteran Affairs representatives: Ramon Agosto and Bianca Ransome, for an informational session about the resources, benefits, and lifetime services, for those local veterans who had served in our Armed Services. Thank you to Cesar Carde, Reverend Winton Hill, Kieran Edmondson, Thomas Patterson, Tom Finn, Marc Brooks, and Brandon Blank for helping make this event a success.
