Read below to learn more about what my administration is working on each day to deliver for you, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

MAYOR’S UPDATES

I want to commend the men and women of the Stamford Police & Fire, and Emergency Medical Services for their collaborative work last week, which resulted in the successful rescue of a woman who was on top of a roof for over five hours. Thanks to their efforts, a life was saved, and this incident underscores the incredible commitment and professionalism of all our first responders.

Stamford Awarded $26.4 Million for Electric Buses (and EV chargers): Last week, I joined Governor Lamont and the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) to celebrate CTDOT and the Stamford transit division receiving $26.4 million from the Department of Transportation for the purchases of 20 new electric buses and transit station upgrades for the CTtransit Stamford division. Stamford also received a $559,367 grant to install 20 EV chargers at the Stamford Government Center to further our sustainability goals to reduce our carbon footprint and electrify our municipal fleet.

Resurfacing of the Rippowam Middle School Track: The resurfacing of the Rippowam Middle School track has started! The track circles a synthetic turf soccer field, and both the track and field are beloved and well-used resources for residents, nonprofit programs, sports training camps, and students. The project is ongoing and scheduled to be completed the week of August 1st.

Stamford Partnership’s Dream Up Grant: I want to congratulate the grant winners from Stamford Partnership's Dream Up program! This initiative is aimed at fostering innovation and empowering BIPOC changemakers in Stamford. Winners include:

100 Black Men of Stamford (improving the educational and economic conditions for African Americans across the city, with a particular focus on youth)
KJM Textile Recycling (transforming discarded textiles into new products)
Teaching Artists International (facilitating teaching artist exchanges for youth and music educators across four continents)

Public Meetings on the Pacific Street Village Streetscape Project: The City of Stamford Transportation, Traffic & Parking Department held a virtual public meeting about the Pacific Street Village Streetscape Project this week via Zoom. The project seeks to increase safety, reduce speeding, improve walkability, and improve access to the train station and the businesses along the street. The project area is Pacific Street between Dock and Henry Streets, and the project also seeks to include the following:
- Pedestrian level street lighting
- New bioswale rain gardens
- New street trees
- New crosswalks
- New bump outs
- New raised crosswalks and intersections.
Parks Strategic Plan: The Mayor launched the Parks Strategic Plan and wants to hear from residents on how to manage and invest in the sustainability of our parks, beaches, and trails. Visit, www.stamfordct.gov/psp for more information and to fill out the survey.

- Construction continues at Stamford Station, please be mindful and plan ahead.
  - Passengers can find the updated train schedule here.
New Canaan Branch Line Improvement Work: Improvements on the New Canaan Branch Line began on Tuesday, May 30, and bus service is replacing all train service. The track improvements and bus substitution are estimated to run through August.
- Upon completion, an existing speed restriction in the Stamford area will be eliminated and trains will be able to travel 20mph faster through this section.
