Read below to learn more about what my administration is working on each day to deliver for you, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

MAYOR’S UPDATES

Mayor Caroline Simmons released the following statement on the death of
Reverend Tommie Jackson:

I am devastated and heartbroken by the untimely passing of Reverend Tommie Jackson. Reverend Jackson was a pillar in the Stamford community and led a life devoted to faith and public service. He was a larger-than-life presence who was steadfast in his advocacy for social and racial justice and touched the lives of so many through his work as Pastor at Rehoboth Fellowship Church and Faith Tabernacle Church, as well as Assistant Director of the Urban Redevelopment Commission. Reverend Jackson’s decades of service and leadership made an indelible impact on the City of Stamford. I was honored to call him a friend and I will greatly miss his positive energy, wonderful sense of humor, and infectious smile.”

  • InCrisis Teen Talks Summit: This week I joined students from the Mayors Youth Leadership Council and community nonprofit leaders to discuss the importance of the mental and emotional health of young people. Kids In Crisis programs have reached over 2,900 students, and through their partnership with Stamford Public Schools students have access to 24/7 service.

  • Clean-up at Rosa Hartman Park: We held a successful clean-up at Rosa Hartman Park last weekend! Stamford has over 56 unique parks across the city and Rosa Hartman is a 14-acre park on the border of Stamford and Greenwich. Big thanks to Pollinator Pathway Stamford, the Stamford Parks and Recreation Commission, Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo, and Greenwich Green & Clean for partnering on this initiative!

  • Peruvian and Colombian Independence Day Celebrations: Last weekend I was honored to join the Colombian American and Peruvian American Communities in Stamford to recognize their Independence Days. Both days were filled with joy, pride, and celebration for the richness of their cultures and their accomplishments in our City.

The purpose of the law is to make sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
