Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

 

Read below to learn more about what my administration is working on each day to deliver for you, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

 

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • Stamford Transportation Center Updates: There are a lot of exciting updates happening at the Stamford Transportation Center. The Stamford Transportation Center is the second busiest station on the New Haven line, and vital to the economic health and growth of our city. Click here to learn more.

     

  • Update on the Resurfacing of the Rippowam Middle School Track: As you may have recently learned, the resurfacing of the Rippowam Middle School track started. The project is ongoing and scheduled to be completed the week of August 24th.A photo of the unsurfaced rippowam track

     

  • City of Stamford Outreach Coordinator featured in Latin Colors Magazine: Congratulations to Maria Millan, Outreach Coordinator for the City of Stamford Department of Health and Human Services, who was recently honored on the cover of Latin Colors Magazine! We thank Maria for her hard work and dedication to the health and well-being of Stamford residents.

CITY NEWS

 

  • Parks Strategic Plan: The Mayor has launched the Parks Strategic Plan and wants to hear from residents on how to manage and invest in the sustainability of our parks, beaches, and trails. Visit, www.stamfordct.gov/psp for more information and to fill out the survey.

 

CITY EVENTS

  • Passport Fair: Congressman Himes’ Office will host a Passport Fair tomorrow, August 5th from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Government Center. For more information see the flyer below. Walk ins are welcome.

  • The EyeRecycle Pop Up Event will take place Mill River Park on Friday August 18th from 11am-2pm redeeming 5¢ deposit plastic bottles, cans and glass bottles for cash.
  • New Canaan Branch Line Improvement Work: Improvements on the New Canaan Branch Line began on Tuesday, May 30, and bus service is replacing all train service. The track improvements and bus substitution are estimated to run through August.
    • Upon completion, an existing speed restriction in the Stamford area will be eliminated and trains will be able to travel 20mph faster through this section.

       

      COVID-19 Resources

  • All information about Stamford's response to COVID-19, including our case numbers, please visit: www.stamfordct.gov/covid19.
  • Vaccination Sites: 1st and 2nd doses are available to all, booster shots for ages 5+ (Pfizer) and 18+ (Moderna/J&J)
    • Free vaccines can be received at 137 Henry St. Clinic on Tuesday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Please call 203-977-5385 for an appointment.

  • If you are unable to leave your home or are uncomfortable traveling to a vaccine site, please call the Stamford Department of Health at (203)-977-4378
  • Please visit the State of Connecticut's Vaccine Portal for information on how to request a new copy of your vaccine card.
