Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

Read below to learn more about what my administration is working on each day to deliver for you, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

MAYOR’S UPDATES

Weekly Local Business Spotlight: Downtown Golf

Each week, I will highlight one of our incredible small businesses that received one of the 176 Stamford COVID-19 relief grants.

Downtown Golf is celebrating its 15th year in Stamford and offers golf players several services to improve their game such as club fittings, golf lessons, and repair work. Their club fittings involve recording each player taking shots with their current equipment while being recorded on their Foresight Quad Launch Monitor/Simulator to study the way they hit and find the best fit. The club fittings are by appointment only. Downtown Golf is located at 125 Bedford St.

Community Non-Profit Spotlight: The Friends of Mianus River Park

Each week I will highlight an invaluable local initiative that received one of the 21 Mayor’s Micro-Grants.

  • Mission: The Friends stated mission is “To Sustain and Protect the Mianus River Park for All Users and Future Generations.” To do so, they work not only to restore and improve the park but also to create a place that can be enjoyed by a wide variety of users.
  • Project Funding Purpose: Funding is awarded to support the removal of invasive species and replace them with native plantings.

  • State Climate Resilience Grants: This week I joined CT DEEP Commissioner Katie Dykes to highlight the $1.3 million in funding awarded to Stamford for 3 climate resiliency projects.
