Your City at Work: From the Mayor’s Desk

Read below to learn more about initiatives my administration is working on, resources for Stamford residents, information about upcoming events, and important city and state information.

In case you missed it, please take a look at our administration’s two-year report that was released earlier this month which highlights the work we have done to promote vibrant growth, secure a sound fiscal footing, and ensure that we remain one of the safest cities in New England. You can read the report here.

Community Non-Profit Spotlight: Boys & Girls Club of Stamford

Each week I will highlight an invaluable local initiative that received one of the 21 Mayor’s Micro-Grants.

  • Mission: To enable all youth to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
  • Project Funding Purpose: Funding was awarded to support studio time, a visiting artist, and the purchase of supplies for their mural project.

MAYOR’S UPDATES

  • Holiday Market: Thank you to our small business vendors and everyone who came to the Holiday Market at Government Center yesterday! It was a wonderful afternoon filled with cheer and joy.

  • Hurricane Barrier Visit: This week, I joined Congressman Jim Himes and staff from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Stamford WPCA to visit the Hurricane Barrier and Dyke Lane Pump Station. The City received a $2.3 million Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant from FEMA which will go toward upgrades for both the hurricane protection barrier and the pump station, including providing emergency power generators for the pump stations, and replacing aging pumps and electrical equipment to comply with current building codes.
