Stamford DSS Office Closed While Water Damage Repaired

Post Date:04/04/2016 7:50 PM

The Department of Social Services is closing our Stamford field office at 1642 Bedford Avenue, beginning Tuesday, April 5, 2016, to allow for clean-up and remediation of major water damage that occurred over the weekend.

We urge our Stamford-area clients with online access to consider visiting www.connect.ct.gov orwww.ct.gov/dss to check on service eligibility, report changes, and apply or renew benefits; or to consider visiting another DSS office.

The DSS Client Information Line and Benefits Center (staffed by eligibility services workers) is also available during business hours at 1-855-6-CONNECT  (toll-free).

Stamford DSS staff are being re-deployed to work in the agency’s Bridgeport and New Haven field offices while the water damage is addressed.  The damage is believed to result from a second-floor overflow during routine weekend cleaning.

Besides Stamford, Bridgeport and New Haven, DSS has offices in Danbury, Waterbury, Middletown, New Britain, Norwich, Torrington, Hartford, Manchester and Willimantic.  For information about office locations, please visit www.ct.gov/dss and click on Field Offices.

We will update this message as the situation develops.  Thank you for your patience and support.
