COVID-19 Response

Protecting the health and safety of our community and responding to COVID-19 is my top priority

Thanks to the measures we implemented over the past few months, we've reached a place where we are able to lift the mask mandate. As of Wednesday, the city-wide mask mandate is lifted. Masks are still required to be worn in hospitals, nursing homes, healthcare and childcare facilities, schools, municipal building and on public transit. I cannot emphasize the importance of getting vaccinated and boosted.

Diaper Drive

Baby Drive

I am so grateful for the hundreds of donations that were left at our eight Diaper Bank locations throughout the City. These items are essential for the health and development of newborn babies, and these resources will go toward helping families across Stamford.

 Salvo  Salvo Women

My team and I met with Captain Anthony Rivera, Lieutenant Valerie Rivera, and the Salvation Army staff and volunteers who serve our community through their food pantry and Diaper Bank. Thank you to all the organizations and nonprofits who volunteered to be a drop-off location: the Government Center, the Recycling Center, the Yerwood Center, the Ferguson Library (Main Branch & South End Branch), the Stamford Police Department, the Star Center, and the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens.

 NBC Sports Headquarters Visit

NBC Sports

Yesterday, Governor Lamont, Mark Lazarus (Chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming), Pete Bevacqua (Chair of NBC Sports Group), our Director of Economic Development Loren Nadres, and I toured NBC Sports Headquarters.  We are proud to be the home of NBC Sports Headquarters, and their over 1,600 staff who are working 24/7 this month, as they cover the Olympic Games.  We are rooting for all our Team USA athletes, bring home the medals!

 State Appropriations Testimony

approps

This week, I testified in front of the State Appropriations Committee concerning Governor Lamont's proposed FY 23 budget adjustments for Elementary and Secondary Education. I proudly advocated for more Education Cost Sharing (ECS) funding for Stamford schools. I also expressed support for the increased mental health funding as well as the $90 million in Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Funds (CSFRF) allocated to support school air quality improvements. It was great to see my former legislative colleagues and I'm grateful for their work on this important budget for our state

As we approach my first 100 days in office, my team and I continue to work towards achieving the goals laid out by our policy committees. As we move forward, I will continue to share and provide brief updates each to you all, so that you can see and hear how your local government is serving you, key developments that will impact residents and how our city operates, critical announcements in the fight against COVID-19 and our efforts to ensure we recover in a responsible and sustainable way. This is just one platform where I will be sharing updates on a weekly basis, but you can also connect with me and my administration on the platforms below:
And of course, I will be out and about across the city every week visiting with local businesses, meeting with constituents, and hearing from stakeholders in our city – so I hope I’ll be able to talk to you in person very soon.
Have a wonderful weekend!
