Visit to The Connecticut Collation Against Domestic Violence and the Alliance to End Sexual Violence

DVV

Today, I was honored to join Office of Governor Ned Lamont, Marc Pelka, Undersecretary of Criminal Justice Policy and Planning, State Senator Ryan Fazio, State Representative Corey Paris, Beth Hamilton, Executive Director, Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence, Mary Flynn, Chief Executive Officer of The Rowan Center-A Sexual Assault Resource Agency, Meghan Scanlon, President and CEO of CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and Suzanne Adam, Executive Director of DVCC to accentuate an $18 million investment by the Governor in his FY22/23 budget. The funding will go to providing housing and basic needs and services to victims of domestic violence.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experiences physical violence, sexual violence, and/or intimate partner stalking. This has only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you to our elected leaders and community nonprofits who work tireless on behalf of victims and survivors. I’m committed to working with all of you so that we can have a world free from domestic and sexual violence

Ukraine Solidarity Rally

This week I was proud to join Lt. Gov. Bysiewicz, other elected officials, and over 200 Stamford residents in support of Ukraine. We stand in solidarity with Ukraine, against Russia’s war of aggression.  The war is a breach of international law and, Ukraine’s sovereignty must be respected.  Stamford has a rich and vibrant Ukrainian community, and we will continue to work with them and other humanitarian organizations to provide any relief we can to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

The Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public information session at 7:00pm on Monday, March 7, 2022, regarding the Stamford Transportation Center Master Plan. The project is expected to be fully funded by the state. “The purpose of the project is to perform a comprehensive evaluation of the existing Stamford Transportation Center complex and provide recommendations and conceptual improvements that will lead to enhanced access and increased public transit use. As we approach my first 100 days in office, my team and I continue to work towards achieving the goals laid out by our policy committees. As we move forward, I will continue to share and provide brief updates each to you all, so that you can see and hear how your local government is serving you, key developments that will impact residents and how our city operates, critical announcements in the fight against COVID-19 and our efforts to ensure we recover in a responsible and sustainable way. This is just one platform where I will be sharing updates on a weekly basis, but you can also connect with me and my administration on the platforms below:

And of course, I will be out and about across the city every week visiting with local businesses, meeting with constituents, and hearing from stakeholders in our city – so I hope I’ll be able to talk to you in person very soon.
Have a wonderful weekend!
