Stamford Kicks Off Pothole Week

Post Date:04/16/2021 2:30 PM

STAMFORD, Conn. — Mayor David Martin today announced this year’s Pothole Week will start this Monday April 19. Residents are encouraged to report potholes to Fix It Stamford to make certain city repair crews know of them as we begin the paving season.

“Our road crews have already started, so now is the time to get all the winter potholes reported through Fix It Stamford. Residents can report potholes anytime, but the faster they get reported, the faster our crews can fill them,” said Mayor David Martin. “We have invested more for road improvement than any prior administration. That investment will best pay off if residents will help by letting us know where all the potholes are. And we’ve made improvements to our Fix It Stamford system to make it simple for any resident to use.”

Originally launched in 2018 and updated this last March, Fix It Stamford is an online resource for residents to report issues requiring action from City staff. These issues include fallen trees, downed utility wires, zoning violations, traffic light outages, requested health inspections, pothole repairs, illegal dumping, and much more. Fix It Stamford is available 24/7 and residents can choose to receive an email for updates on their request. Any resident can submit to Fix It Stamford by visiting https://www.stamfordct.gov/fixit.

The City completes pothole repairs year-round; however, potholes cannot be repaired during freezing temperatures, rain, or snow. So the eight months between April and November, when local asphalt suppliers are open, provide for a better “paving season” for pothole repairs and road paving.

Potholes on State roads are repaired by Connecticut’s Department of Transportation and can be reported on the State’s website here: https://www.dotdata.ct.gov/contacts/contactus.aspx?topic=34. State roads in Stamford include:

  • Connecticut Turnpike (Route 95)
  • High Ridge Road (Route 137)
  • Courtland Avenue (Route 106)
  • West Main Street (Route 1)
  • Merritt Parkway
  • Cold Spring Road (from High Ridge Road to Washington Boulevard)
  • East Main Street (Route 1)
  • South State Street (Greenwich to Elm)
  • Long Ridge Road (Route 104)
  • Washington Boulevard (Cold Spring Road to Route 95)
