From the Mayor's Office

  • Mayor David Martin announced the installation of blue light safety towers in Latham and Columbus Parks. Stamford hopes to continue to utilize this technology to increase resident safety and security in our parks. Visit our website for more information.
  • Mayor Martin also announced the addition of Park Attendants beginning May 28 through September 16th. They will be assigned to Cove island Park, Cummings Beach Park, West Beach, Scalzi Park and Lione Park and will help enforce park rules and regulations and assist residents in need.   • Mayor Martin hosted a COVID-19 Update Livestream on Tuesday.

    • Mayor Martin will host another COVID-19 Update Livestream on Tuesday, May 25.

COVID-19 Updates

Case Numbers

  • Today — May 27 — Stamford has 15,783 confirmed cases. Last week — May 20 — Stamford had 15,749 confirmed cases. These numbers suggest Stamford has had 34 new cases in the past week, roughly 5 new cases per day on average. The City of Stamford has compiled a visualization of data up to May 25.

Vaccine Rollout

  • Need a COVID-19 Vaccine?
    • List of all vaccine sites, including upcoming Pop-up Vaccine sites across the City can be viewed here.
  • Residents can get a COVID-19 vaccine with NO APPOINTMENT at the following locations/days:
    • Bethel AME (150 Fairfield Avenue). May 22, 10 am to 3 pm.
    • Lione Park. May 23 - 29. 11:00 - 6:00
    • Yerwood Center. May 24-25. 10:00 – 2:00
    • 83 Lockwood Ave. May 26-28. 10:00 – 2:00
    • Cove Island. May 29. 10:00 – 4:00
    • Hunt Park. June 1-5 11:00 – 6:00
    • Yerwood Center. June 1 10:00 – 2:00
    • 83 Lockwood Ave. June 2-4 10:00 – 2:00
    • Cove Island. June 5-6 10:00 – 4:00
    • 1 Schuyler Ave. June 5 10:00- 3:00
    • Building One Community. June 6 10:00 – 3:00
    • Department of Health Clinic (137 Henry Street). Mondays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Tuesdays and Fridays, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

  • 1 Elmcroft will be closed on 5/31 and CHC will be closed 5/30-31 for Memorial Day weekend.
  • Beginning 6/5, the 1 Elmcroft vaccine location will be open Monday – Saturday. You can either walk in with no appointment needed or schedule an appointment by going to Stamfordhealth.org or by calling 203.276.7300

    • As of May 28th, the Cove Island Park testing site will be closed.

Community

  • Please note, Cashiering and Permitting will not be able to process beach permits this weekend because offices will be closed for Memorial Day.
  • Starting June 5th, the Katrina Mygatt Recycling center will accept your food scraps. The Scofield Recycling Center will also accept food scraps during their monthly events. For more information on the new program, visit our website.
  • The Connecticut Restaurant Association is partnering with Governor Lamont and the State of Connecticut to launch the #CTDrinksOnUs campaign, where participating state restaurants will offer complimentary drinks (with food purchase) to patrons with either one or both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine beginning May 19 through May 31.
  • United Way of Western Connecticut has provided Food Guide to view all of the food resources that are currently available to Stamford residents, including pantries, SNAP, school meals, home deliveries and other services.

State & Federal

State

  • As of May 19, mask wearing rules are relaxed for residents and visitors to Connecticut who are fully vaccinated.  Please review this guidance document from the Connecticut Department of Public Health on the state’s newly modified mask and face covering policies.
  • Governor Ned Lamont announced that the Covid-19 vaccine made by Pfizer-BioNtech is available to residents in Connecticut between the ages of 12-15. The expansion of Connecticut’s vaccine program follows on the heels of the decision by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices to recommend the vaccine for this age group.

  • Cold Spring Road/Washington Blvd between Tresser Blvd and High Ridge Road will begin milling and paving starting June 7th. In total, the project will be take place from June 7 until July 2, weather permitting. All work will be done at night.

Events, Listings & Meetings

Events

  • Stamford Memorial Day Parade will take place on Sunday, May 30th. Please visit our website for more details.
  • The Stamford Recycling and Sanitation Department, partnering with HELPSY – the largest clothing collection company in the Northeast, will be hosting a Clothing Drive and Recycling Collection event on June 5th at the Scofield Yard Recycling Center located at 55 Rock Rimmon Road in Stamford. The event will be held from 8 am – 2pm.   Additional recycling events are also being planned for July 10, August 7, and September 11.
  • The City of Stamford will host a COVID-19 Update Livestream on Tuesday, June 1 at 6 pm.
    • Send questions to AskMayorMartin@stamfordct.gov.
    • Stamford's COVID-19 Update Livestream is hosted every Tuesday at 6 pm. Residents can visit this link to see the livestream or archives of previous livestreams. The livestream is also accessible on the City of Stamford's Facebook page.
